The Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC) will consider landscape-scale stressors, including climate change, habitat fragmentation, invasive species, and water scarcity as it attempts to provide a vision for a landscape capable of sustaining healthy populations of fish, wildlife, plants and cultural resources.

The SRLCC is made up of federal, state, tribal and private agencies or organizations involved in the management of key natural resources such as water, animals and plants. The diverse makeup of the group promotes collaboration among members by developing shared conservation goals. The partnership works together to identify where and how to achieve larger and lasting conservation with a landscape scale impact.

The sea is rising and will cover millions of acres of coastal land in the coming decades. Also, coastal storms are increasingly erratic and violent, threatening lives and property on the coasts. Communities are implementing a wide range of adaptation measures, including seawalls, wider canals, and raised buildings, but many of these are only temporary stop-gaps with challenging financial and ecological implications. In some places, managed retreat, or climigration, should be an option people are talking about, but very few communities dare to raise it as a possibility because of many different variables.
This effort is led by a diverse group of people who are committed to helping communities and policymakers think proactively about managed retreat along with all other options for adapting to climate change. This multi-faceted issue necessitates a multi-expert and multi-experience approach. Thus the network includes a diverse group of thinkers and doers from a wide variety of disciplines and experiences, including planners; residents of coastal communities; a post-disaster social worker; local, state, and federal government representatives; climate scientists; a change management consultant; artists who use expression to help people think about transformation; academics; adaptation finance administrators; and policy mediators.

SWMM-CAT allows users to evaluate climate change impacts on stormwater runoff volume and quality, and to explore how the application of various low-impact development (LID) options can be used to alter these hydrological parameters. SWMM provides a spatial and temporal analysis of runoff quality and quantity by dividing basins into multiple sub-catchment areas and analyzing runoff at different time steps. It covers a variety of different drivers that can cause runoff in urban areas, including rainfall, snowmelt, and groundwater percolation, among others, and also allows for mapping and modeling of different sub-catchment drainage system components, including pipes, channels, diversion structures, storage and treatment facilities, and natural channels.

This series of short videos was developed during a three-day digital storytelling workshop with members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. The pilot project explored digital storytelling as a method for building partnerships, understanding local climate impacts and raising awareness about community concerns. Each story touches on different cultural traditions and resources already threatened by climate change and the impacts on individual and community identity and wellbeing.
Each participant developed their own narrative and chose their own visuals to portray their story. The videos represent multigenerational tribal voices.

The NorWeST webpage hosts stream temperature data and climate scenarios in a variety of user-friendly digital formats for streams and rivers across the western U.S. The temperature database was compiled from hundreds of biologists and hydrologists working for >100 resource agencies and contains >150,000,000 hourly temperature recordings at >20,000 unique stream sites. Those temperature data were used with spatial statistical network models to develop 30 historical and future climate scenarios at 1-kilometer resolution for >1,000,000 kilometers of stream.

SNAP produces downscaled, historical and projected climate data for sub-Arctic and Arctic regions of Alaska and Canada. We also share other types of project-specific data that cover much larger regions. Dataset categories include: Observed Historical, Modeled Historical, and Modeled Projected.

A key part of the Service's climate change strategy is to inform FWS staff about the impacts of accelerating climate change and to engage partners and others in seeking collaborative solutions. Indigenous Climate Action’s (ICA) goal is to foster Indigenous communities that are inspired and empowered to take direct climate action. Our biggest natural resources are the unique Indigenous knowledge our people hold to build solid solutions for climate change. ICA supports regional capacity building to build critical relationships with decision makers and resources to ensure projects are continually growing. Through this collaborative approach, regional Indigenous communities will have access to resources that will support their work while simultaneously regenerating our biggest natural resources, the people and knowledge.

Information in the Library is derived from climate change vulnerability assessments conducted by Adaptation Partners (adaptationpartners.org), which collaborates with a diversity of organizations and stakeholders to develop multi-resource assessments. Adaptation options are intended to inform sustainable management of natural resources, reduce the negative effects of climate change, transition ecosystems to a warmer climate, and help integrate climate change in natural resource management, planning, and business operations of federal land management agencies.

The Department of the Interior Northwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (NW CASC) was established to help safeguard the natural and cultural resources of Idaho, Oregon, Washington and surrounding river basins. We are a federal-university partnership that produces relevant and accessible science on climate change impacts and adaptation actions for Northwest natural resource managers and policy-makers. This University-Federal partnership allows access to a broad range of scientific expertise, production of high-quality science and the leveraging of funds, resources and facilities.

We offer a public-friendly point of entry to NOAA’s and our partners’ diverse portfolios of climate data and information. Our goals are to promote public understanding of climate science to make our data products and services easy to access and use for decision-making, to provide climate-related support to the private sector and the Nation’s economy, and to provide quick access to data and information for individuals with very specific questions.

To address challenges ecological, climate related and management challenges to our coasts, the Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management’s (OCRM) six divisions oversee a number of programs that assist states in managing, preserving, and developing their marine and coastal resources. OCRM activities include working with states and territories to conserve and protect coral reefs, operate a system of National Estuarine Research Reserves, and implement the National Coastal Zone Management Program, as well as developing a system of marine protected areas.

While the need for good data forms the foundation of the website, the basic premise behind the effort is the understanding that data alone are not enough. Most people need help turning these data into information that can be used when making important decisions about coastal management. The Digital Coast does just that with data, training, tools, stories from the field and other resources.

The Coastal Hazard Wheel is a universal coastal adaptation system to address all coastal challenges simultaneously. It can be used as a complete coastal language and aims to boost adaptation action and bridge the gap between scientists, policy-makers and the general public. It is based on a new coastal classification system and functions as a key for classifying a particular coastal location, determining its hazard profile, identifying relevant management options and communicating coastal information. The Coastal Hazard Wheel App currently provides global coastal classification and adaptation information with low-moderate accuracy and will be continuously improved as various adaptation projects are implemented.
