The NOAA Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Hawaii Program is a federal funding opportunity which meets NOAA's mission of science, service and stewardship. This B-WET program supports the vision of a future where societies and their ecosystems are healthy and resilient in the face of sudden or prolonged change. The purpose for this financial assistance is to support our communities by developing a well-informed citizenry involved in decision-making that positively impacts our coastal, marine and watershed ecosystems in the State of Hawaii. This opportunity is a competitively-based grant that provides funding to assist in the development of new programs, encourage innovative partnerships among environmental education programs and support geographically targeted programs to advance environmental education efforts that complement national and state school requirements.

Rolling Deadline. The Long Term Research in Environmental Biology (LTREB) Program supports the generation of extended time series of data to address important questions in evolutionary biology, ecology, and ecosystem science. Research areas include, but are not limited to, the effects of natural selection or other evolutionary processes on populations, communities, or ecosystems; the effects of interspecific interactions that vary over time and space; population or community dynamics for organisms that have extended life spans and long turnover times; feedbacks between ecological and evolutionary processes; pools of materials such as nutrients in soils that turn over at intermediate to longer time scales; and external forcing functions such as climatic cycles that operate over long return intervals.

Deadline Passed 03/20/2019. Deadline Unknown for 2020. There will be eight grant competitions from this notification valued at approximately $16,200,000 as follows: 1) High Impact Weather Testbeds, 2) Joint Technology Transfer Initiative (JTTI), 3) Air Quality Research and Forecasting, 4) Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment - Southeast U.S. (VORTEX-SE), 5) Infrasound Detection of Tornadoes and High Impact Weather, 6) Next Generation of Mesoscale Weather Observing Platforms, 7) Snowpack and Soil Moisture Observations and Data Assimilation to Improve the National Water Model (NWM), and 8) Subseasonal to Seasonal (S2S).

These eight competitions are focused on improving NOAA's understanding and ultimately its weather and water forecasting services through engagement with the external scientific community on key science gaps of mutual interest through funded grant opportunities.One of the key themes is supporting applied research and development that leads to the demonstration in NOAA’s testbeds during the project period of new high impact weather, water, and air quality observing and forecasting applications, including new data or products, improved analysis techniques, better statistical or dynamic forecast models and techniques, and communication of that information to better inform the public. Innovation Prize seeks to identify, support, and elevate innovators who are spearheading early-stage projects in the fields of the environment, heritage conservation, and social justice. The DOE Office of Indian Energy is soliciting applications from Tribes to provide electric power to Tribal buildings that would otherwise be electrified by deploying  integrated energy system(s) or energy infrastructure. Individual awards vary depending on type of project with a range from $250,000 to $4,000,000. This opportunity builds on the important discussions at the 7th biennial Tribal Clean Energy Summit, where U.S Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm held a nation-to-nation roundtable with Tribal leaders to share ideas and explore cost-effective approaches to clean energy that strengthen Tribal energy and economic infrastructure, address climate resilience, and build stronger and safer communities.

Deadline Passed 12/08/2017. Deadline for 2018 Unknown.The Office of Science (SC) of the Department of Energy hereby announces its continuing interest in receiving grant applications for support of work in the following program areas: Advanced Scientific Computing Research, Basic Energy Sciences, Biological and Environmental Research, Fusion Energy Sciences, High Energy Physics, and Nuclear Physics

Deadline passed. Most recent deadline: May 19, 2023. Concept papers were due January 13, 2023. The Grid Innovation Program provides $5 billion for FY 22-26 to support projects that use innovative approaches to transmission, storage, and distribution infrastructure to enhance grid resilience and reliability. Projects selected under this program will include interregional transmission projects, investments that accelerate interconnection of clean energy generation, and utilization of distribution grid assets to provide backup power and reduce transmission requirements. Innovative approaches can range from use of advanced technologies to innovative partnerships to the deployment of projects identified by innovative planning processes.

Deadline: July 31, 2023. Tribes can use flexible EECBG Program funding for projects and programs that cut carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use. Tribal governments submit an EECBG Program Formula Application and receive their funds as a grant to utilize on an eligible activity of their choice. Deadline: June 13, 2023. The Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program (CFI Program) is a new competitive grant program created by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to strategically deploy publicly accessible electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling infrastructure in the places people live and work – urban and rural areas alike – in addition to along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs). CFI Program investments will make modern and sustainable infrastructure accessible to all drivers of electric, hydrogen, propane, and natural gas vehicles. This program provides two funding categories of grants: (1) Community Charging and Fueling Grants (Community Program); and (2) Alternative Fuel Corridor Grants (Corridor Program). The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides $2.5 billion over five years for this program. This NOFO offers up to $700 million from Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023 to strategically deploy electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and other alternative fueling infrastructure projects in urban and rural communities in publicly accessible locations, including downtown areas and local neighborhoods, particularly in underserved and disadvantaged communities. Deadline Passed March 26, 2019. Deadline Unknown for 2020. EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality is soliciting applications nationwide for projects that achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions, particularly from fleets operating at or servicing goods movement facilities located in areas designated as having poor air quality. Further, priority for funding will be given to projects which result in outcomes that benefit affected communities, those that engage affected communities with respect to the design and performance of the project, and those which can demonstrate the ability to promote and continue efforts to reduce emissions after the project has ended.

Last Deadline: 9/1/2020. The goal of the Tribal Energy Development Capacity (TEDC) program is to develop tribal management, organizational and technical capacity needed to maximize the economic impact of energy resourcedevelopment on Indian land. The TEDC grant gives tribes the ability to developor enhance their business and regulatory environment for energy resourcedevelopment. Proposed projects must include building tribal capacity to:  develop organizational structures, businessentity structures, or develop or enhance regulatory functions. All of the functions are related to building tribal energy development capacity for thepurpose of strengthening tribal capacity for development and management of energyprojects.

Deadline Unknown for 2020. The purpose of the Sun Grant Program (SGP) is to enhance national energy security through the development, distribution, and implementation of biobased energy technologies; to promote diversification in, and the environmental sustainability of, agricultural production in the United States through biobased energy and product technologies; to promote economic diversification in rural areas of the United States through biobased energy and product technologies; and to enhance the efficiency of bioenergy and biomass research and development programs through improved coordination and collaboration among the Department of Agriculture; other appropriate Federal agencies (as determined by the Secretary); and Land Grant Institutions.

The DOE Office of Indian Energy is soliciting applications for Tribes to install clean energy generating system(s) and energy efficiency measure(s) for Tribal buildings; deploy community-scale clean energy generating system(s) or energy storage on Tribal lands; or install integrated energy system(s) for autonomous operation to power essential Tribal facilities during  emergency situations or for Tribal community resilience. Individual awards vary depending on type of project with a range $100,000 to $5,000,000. The TEDC grant program helps tribes in assessing, developing, or obtaining the managerial and technical capacity needed to develop energy resources on Indian land and properly account for energy resource production and revenues, as provided for under Title V.
