The Tribal Climate Change Funding Guide is intended to provide up-to-date information on grants, programs and plans that may assist tribes in addressing climate change through a broad range of sectors. We will update this guide regularly, so please check back often. Historic Preservation Fund Grants-in-Aid to Tribal Historic Preservation Offices Department of the Interior, National Parks Service

Historic Preservation Fund- History of Equal Rights- Preservation Grants Department of the Interior, National Park Service

Most recent deadline: 1/12/2021. The National Park Service’s (NPS) History of Equal Rights Grant Program (HER) will preserve sites related to the struggle of all American's to achieve equal rights. HER grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), administered by the NPS, and will fund a broad range of preservation projects for historic sites including: architectural services, historic structure reports, preservation plans, and physical preservation to structures. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and do not require non-Federal match. The HER opportunity number is P21AS00201.There are separate funding announcements for African American Civil Rights physical preservation projects and for historical research/documentation projects. Native American Affairs: Technical Assistance to Tribes for Fiscal Year 2018 Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation

Healthy Homes Production Grant Program for Tribal Housing Department of Housing and Urban Development

Deadline Passed 08/09/2019. Deadline Unknown for 2020. The purpose of the HHP program is to assist American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments identify and remediate housing related health and safety hazards. This program will assist American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments to develop comprehensive programs to identify and remediate housing issues that contribute to health and safety issues in urban, tribal communities. The Healthy Homes Production (HHP) Program is part of HUD’s overall Healthy Homes Initiative launched in 1999. The program takes a comprehensive approach to addressing multiple childhood diseases and injuries in the home by focusing on housing-related hazards in a coordinated fashion, rather than addressing a single hazard at a time. The program builds upon HUD’s experience with Lead Hazard Control programs to expand the Department’s efforts to address a variety of high-priority environmental health and safety hazards.

FY 2022 Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program Department of Homeland Security, FEMA

Applications Due: June 13, 2022. The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA), Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) invites representatives of federally recognized tribes to participate in upcoming technical assistance webinars regarding the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program (THSGP) and other preparedness grant programs that support tribal nations. The FY 2022 THSGP provides $15 million to directly eligible tribes to enhance the ability of tribal nations to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from potential terrorist attacks and other hazards. Deadline for 2017 unkonown. The Department of Homeland Security Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Homeland Security National Training Program (HSNTP), Continuing Training Grants (CTG) program plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment, and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal (the Goal) of a secure and resilient Nation. Delivering core capabilities requires the combined effort of the whole community, rather than the exclusive effort of any single organization or level of government. The FY 2016 HSNTP/CTG supports efforts to build and sustain core capabilities across Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery mission areas, with specific focus on addressing the training needs of our Nation. Tribal Management Grant Program Department of Health and Human Services, IHS

Innovations in Nutrition Programs and Services Department of Health and Human Services

Building America Industry Partnerships and Research Priorities for High Performance Housing Innovation - 2018 Department of Energy, Golden Field Office

Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program Department of Energy

Water Resources Drought Response Grants (Washington) Department of Ecology, State of Washington

Assistance to High Energy Cost Communities Department of Agriculture, Utilities Program

Deadline Passes December 11, 2017. Deadline for 2018 unknown. The Rural Utilities Service (RUS), an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), announces the availability of up to $10 million in competitive grants to assist communities with extremely high energy costs. The grant funds may be used to acquire, construct, or improve energy generation, transmission, or distribution facilities serving communities where the average annual residential expenditure for home energy exceeds 275% of the national average. Eligible projects also include on-grid and off-grid renewable energy projects and the implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation projects for eligible communities. Projects cannot be for the primary benefit of a single household or business. Grant funds may not be used for the preparation of the grant application, payment of utility bills, fuel purchases, routine maintenance or other routine operating costs, or for the purchase of any equipment, structures, or real estate not directly associated with the provision of community energy services. IOWA FY18 IPC ANNOUNCEMENT Department of Agriculture

Deadline Passed as of 1/31/2018. Deadline for 2019 Unknown. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing potential availability of agreements for the purpose of leveraging NRCS resources, addressing local natural resource issues, encouraging collaboration and developing state-and-community-level conservation leadership. Successful applicant proposals must originate from Iowa and focus on conservation issues as noted in Section I (B) of this notice. Texas NRCS Urban Conservation Project Department of Agriculture

The NRCS - Texas State Office, an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking support from and opportunities to partner with like minded natural resource conservation partners. The overall intent of this solicitation is to solicit partnerships to help enhance the implementation of key conservation objectives and priorities outlined further in this document. .The Texas NRCS Urban Conservation Project is an effort to challenge community organizations, educational institutions and Indian tribes to establish community and school gardens across Texas. The simple act of planting a garden can help unite neighbors in a common effort and inspire locally-led solutions to challenges facing our state. Challenges that can be addressed with locally-led solutions can be diverse in an urban setting. Addressing hunger with an urban garden can bring communities together and initiate other positive outcomes for people. Pollinator habitat planned with urban gardens can provide an increase in harvest potential while providing food and habitat for declining insect communities in Texas.As part of the USDA’s Urban Agriculture toolkit, the Texas NRCS Urban Conservation Project will provide technical and financial assistance to eligible entities to establish gardens for food production and for attracting and maintaining monarch butterflies and the establishment of seasonal high tunnels to extend the growing season of fruits and vegetables. Conservation entities are invited to apply for NRCS assistance with the following key conservation objectives:1. Provide learning experiences in natural resources conservation to urban communities.2. Address food deserts.3. Create urban gardening projects that develop urban properties into vegetable production sites.4. Improve access to healthy, affordable food at a local level.5. Keepers of the Earth Fund Cultural Survival

Last deadline: 10/27/2017. Cultural Survival is pleased to announce the Keepers of the Earth Fund (KOEF) call for Applications. The KOEF is a small grants fund that supports Indigenous values-based community development. Applications will be viewed with an eye toward innovation, Indigenous values woven into the design of the project, and projects addressing real-time development needs. The connection between Indigenous values and the proposed project should be clearly articulated. The primary purpose of the Keepers of the Earth Fund is to empower grassroots Indigenous communities in establishing their rights and retaining their traditional values. We seek to fund projects that work in collaboration with others for the larger community as opposed to working alone. We encourage partnerships and networking, capacity building for results, and strategic approaches to Indigenous development.
