Most recent deadline: January 15, 2025. The Environmental Protection Agency awarded Ecology funds to develop a grant program and facilitate subawards of these funds toward improving the climate resiliency of riparian systems in Puget Sound. Ecology is working in partnership with riparian restoration and protection experts to start a new Climate Resilient Riparian Systems Lead grant program. The program is a coalition between Ecology, the Washington State Conservation Commission, and Bonneville Environmental Foundation. The goal of the program is to promote programs that catalyze sustainable, effective, reach-scale riparian restoration and permanent protection in Puget Sound. The Climate Resilient Riparian Systems Lead program focuses on protecting and restoring riparian areas that have been damaged or are struggling to support the plants, animals, and waters of Puget Sound. It also aims to maintain and learn from pristine riparian systems. 2025 Competitive State Wildlife Grant- U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Applications Due: February 25, 2025. The Competitive State Wildlife Grant (C-SWG) Program provides Federal cost sharing awards to help the State, Territory, and District of Columbia fish and wildlife agencies and their associations design and implement proactive conservation programs benefiting wildlife and their habitats. Eligible activities include conservation planning and implementation. Planning activities include strategic enhancements to a State or Territory Wildlife Action Plan (Plan) that address best practices identified in this announcement. https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/357128

2025 Coastal Resilience Program. Letters of Intent Due: March 5, 2025, by 5 p.m. CST. The National Sea Grant Law Center’s funding opportunities seek to promote the growth and development of Sea Grant legal programming and build the capacity of individual Sea Grant programs to address legal issues in their states.* Eligible applicants, including Sea Grant Programs, universities, government agencies, and non-profits, are invited to apply for funding to research the effectiveness of laws and policies related to coastal resilience. Green Horizons - Accelerating support for Tribal agricultural producers in implementing sustainable farm and ranch practices. Applications Due: June 15, 2025. This initiative provides essential capital and capacity-building support to drive environmental sustainability in Native agricultural and food systems. Together, we’re accelerating existing efforts that provide support for Tribal agricultural producers implementing sustainable practices on farms and ranches. Green Horizons is an opportunity targeted for state and federally recognized Tribal governments. To determine eligibility, we reference the Federal Register’s list of federally recognized Tribes and each state’s list of state recognized Tribes. The lead applicant must be a Tribal government. To be considered the lead applicant, an entity must serve as the project lead/key personnel for the project, have oversight of the budget, and be the primary contact with SEF throughout the duration of the grant. Tribal governments may choose to partner with other entities including but not limited to 501(c)(3) organizations, educational organizations, and community/grassroots coalitions. https://sovereignequityfund.org/greenhorizons/

Funding Opportunity for Washington Coastal Tribes. Applications Due: August 11, 2025. The Climate Impacts Group is launching a small grants program, the Washington Coastal resilience and Adaptation Funding for Tribes (WA-CRAFT), to support the climate adaptation work of Washington coastal Tribes. In alignment with our commitment to honor Tribal sovereignty and self-determination, the program was co-designed with Tribal partners. Guided by their feedback, the program is designed to be non-competitive, low-barrier, and unrestricted to maximize flexibility and accessibility of funds. In this time of funding uncertainty, we are honored to support the original stewards of this land as they continue their vital work—work that has sustained Tribal communities since time immemorial.

The Healthy Environment for All (HEAL) Act was passed in 2021 to reduce environmental and health disparities, equitably distribute environmental benefits, and improve the health of all people in Washington state. The Department of Health (DOH) is one of seven named state agencies, along with the Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Ecology, and Puget Sound Partnership, committed to reducing environmental health disparities across Washington State through the implementation of HEAL. 

These are non-competitive grants awarded to eligible Tribes to provide guidance and input to: 

• The Environmental Justice Council about how to implement the HEAL Act.
• DOH regarding updates to the Environmental Health Disparities Map.
• State agencies about how to implement the HEAL Act (including environmental justice assessments, budgeting and funding, and community and Tribal engagement).

Program funds projects that improve the safety, efficiency, or reliability of the movement of goods through ports or intermodal connections to ports.
